PECHORA

Pechora is situated on the Pechora River, near the northern Ural Mountains. The town Pechora was founded in 1940-s. The total population of the city is more than 48 000 people.  

Theatre  “Zheleznodorozhnikov”

It was built in 1949. The theatrical company totalled about 140 actors, singers, musicians.  The building is brought in the state list of monuments of history and culture. This is the second building in the world, in which audibility is as in the Colosseum.

The Pechora Bogoroditsky Skoroposlushnichesky monastery

It was founded on March, 22nd 1993 in a place of the house of worship converted from a barrack in which there were prisoners of  Pechorlag in 1930-1950th. In a monastery there is a wonder-working icon of Bozhiej  Mother "Skoroposlushnitsa".

Rusanov monument

The monument was created by a famous komi sculptor Borisov. It was opened in 1967. It is the first monument in the country to V.A.Rusanov – a well-known traveller who investigated the Pechora region. Prophetical words are written on the pedestal:” Will the time come when on that coast Pechora city will be built, and the fine park here will grow, and the working people will enjoy this amazing view”.
