EZHVA

In the 16th century, more precisely in 1586 was the first mention about  Ezhva when scribes the book was first mentioned as Sloboda "repairs Slobodka Shulgin Cholve River." 

In June the 1st, 1910 - established a new parish Slobodskaya with the centre in the village of Sloboda. In March the 26th, 1918 - General Meeting of the peasants and soldiers returning from war, in the Sloboda was proclaimed Soviet power in 1929 - during the Soviet era and Sloboda became part of the Ust-Sysolskiy area, which became the centre of Ust-Sysolsk (now Syktyvkar .) 

In 1998 - Ezhvinsky district of Syktyvkar has received the status of intra-municipal and in January the 1st, 2006 - "Ezhvinsky area Syktyvkar" was transformed into Ezhvinsky district urban district "Syktyvkar".

The population of Ezhva is about 56 thousand people, a quarter of residents of Syktyvkar and 5.5 per cent of the population of  Komi Republic.

Ezhva as many different towns in the Komi Republic has its own features. The main feature is the Mondi Company. Mondi Syktyvkar is one of the largest producers in the Russian pulp and paper industry. It produces office, offset and newsprint paper as well as topliner for the packaging and converting industry. 

Mondi Syktyvkar operates one board machine and three papermaking machines. In the mill, there is a wood yard, a pulp plant, a power plant and a complete complex of effluent treatment facilities. The Syktyvkar mill controls 7 logging branches supplying the mill with wood.

Ski Base «Vezhdino»

People from Ezhva actively involved in sports. Ezhva as many south towns has Ski base which is called «Vezhdino».There you can also try yourself in ski, tubbing and snowboard. You can try both on short and on long-distance cross-country skiing. Beautiful nature and fresh air only attract athletes. Besides the prices are not expensive, about 200-300 rubles for ski hire.
